Cuba--Going Back
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Texas Press (November, 1999)

Wanting to Go Back
Like Tony I am a cuban american who left Cuba in the early 60s for political freedom to study in the States. I came from a successful middle class family and a history of political successes and upheaval. I have always wanted to go back to re-live my youth in Havana, Tarara y Santa Maria del Mar (like Tony in Varadero) where I spent the happiest time of my youth. I have known of the misery of our people because I kept in touch, however Tony has been able to portray that misery in his wonderful black and white pictures. His writtings and dialogues are very easy to read but with a real message for everyone to understand. This is a great book for those who will like an honest and unbias portray of the cuban situation today. Tony has let these people speak out their feelings (pro and against) for the world to judge. I envy Tony for having the opportunity to return. His book has made me very sad because we are limited in our ability to help them. I cried for the younger generation unable to better themselves. Only the beauty of our land and sea remains untouched. Someday our people will be free again to make their choices and Cuba will be a wonderful place to visit. I promised myself to be in the first plane to help rebuild it.

The People of Cuba Speak
Tony Mendoza's journey through Cuba takes you into the world of the average Cuban. He does an excellent job of reflecting on his childhood memories of Cuba while combining present day Cuba. This book contains true actual feelings and impressions of Cuba instead of the naive happy-go lucky attitude expressed in most touristic journals typical of many other photographers.

Born- Again Cuban
The images captured by my born-again cuban cousin Tony Mendoza will endure.Through his magically sensitive photographic lens and engaging story telling prose. Those that do not know Cuba and read his book, will learn by sharing the daily rhythms of its people in the midst of their aimless sub-existence. Those that know, and particularly those that are cuban -american, may wish to prudently consider a box of tissue. I agree with the author. His father Miguel would have been proud of this book.

Need a House, Call Ms. Mouse

Wish I could find it..............
Well I can say enough good things about this book, It has been my favorite for as long as I can remember, it as the first present I ever gave to my best friend Kristin, I think it was her 3rd or 4th birthday. Now one of my close friends has become a teacher and I would love for her to share the joy of this wonderful book in her classroom! I am trying Ginny!

Ms. Mouse
The concept is simple, but this is in my opinion one of the best childrens' books on the market. The drawings are creative and unique. This book has inspired my love of architecture.

Need a house, Call Ms. Mouse
My sister gave this book to my 3 girls when they were younger and it was a favorite of all of ours. The intricate houses Ms. Mouse designed that we spent hours studying are still something my grown children remember. In the several moves we have made over the years, this book has been lost. I have been searching for another copy for 5 years. I would love to find this book again for my grandchildren, so we can spend time studying those wonderful pictures and talking about the genius of Ms. Mouse.

LA Ciudad De Los Prodigios
Published in Paperback by Planeta Pub Corp (September, 1995)
Author: Eduardo Mendoza

The main character is a city, and its name is Barcelona
This book is incredible. It is full of clues to understand the aim and the soul of actual Barcelona, from the roots of the past. For those that have visited Barcelona, a way to re-encounter the charming feeling of this marvelous city.

A real literature book
This is really amazing. It describes the history of a 'clever' guy in Barcelona at the end of the last century. It is very entertaiment and once you begin, you can not stop. DO NOT USE IT AS TABLE NIGHT BOOK. If you do so, you will not sleep for the entire night, because you will be reading it. In my opinion these book is not so good as 'Sin noticias de Gurb' but the quality of the vocabulary, the decription of the personages and the treatment of the situations make of this book one of the best of the spanish literature of the last 20 years.

EXCELLENT account of brand new Industrial Barcelonacity life
You won't look at Barcelona (while walking through its old district and its Eixample) the same way anymore...

The best book on retiring in Mexico, I know, I did it!
This book has all the accurate information one needs to know about retiring in the major gringo havens in Mexico. Chocked full of excellent information, much more valuable than any seminar given in Mexico. I highly recommend it.

Real info on Americans living in Mexico; great book,
This book gives down to earth info on relocating to Mexico; it is a great resource. Very readable style. Author reveals his love of the country and people and the reader will most likely have to discard some previous misconceptions about this country. I was ready to pack my bags after reading it.

Color and Shapes?Los Colores Y Las Figuras
I want to continue learning the Spanish language and found that this children's book helped me and my family alot. I was intimidated by the language, and by starting at this basic level, it opened a new door for me to want to build upon and continue to learn more. By getting down the fundamentals, I am able to go on to more things. My kids are constantly speaking the words out loud and are actually teaching each other and myself Spanish. I am glad that there are books out there like this that I can use, no matter how young the age group, and actually learn.

Great foundations book
I recently became interested in toddler and primary age children's books because I am a grandmother. Looking for starter books, it was great to discover this title, and the companion English-Spanish Foundations co-volumes. My grandkids enjoyed the color and layout and definitely learned!

Colors and Shapes
Several members of my family have small children who are just learning to read. I was looking for an english/spanish book that would be fun for them to go through, but would also present information in an easy and understandable way for them. This book was just what I was looking for. If anyone is looking for a great educational gift for little kids be sure to take a look at this!

Ernie: A Photographer's Memoir
Published in Paperback by Capra Press (December, 1999)
Author: Tony Mendoza

Irresistible collection of Mendoza, Don't miss it this time!
I was attracted by this greenish hard-covered book with a startled look of a feline, called Ernie. Cats have millions of expressions but you are not going to forget this one, and those inside the book. Living with Ernie for 2 years, Mendoza grasped the essence of this special cat with his talent in photography. All the photos are black & white, together with the thoughts of the photographer and Ernie's himself. I am impressed by the photo on page 77 - Ernie was jumping to catch the left hand of Mendoza (while he took the photo with the other hand). It gives me the thought of "When you target on something, go for it!". I admire the brave of cats. When you have read through the book, you would probably like me - become a fan of Ernie!

What cat lovers love about cats
The great thing about this book is that the photos in it are not cutesy kitty shots. Mendoza lived with Ernie the cat for 2 years and he really captures the cat's personality in these images. You know how sometimes your cat gets this weird look in her eye and then goes flying off at top speed to attack something that you can't even see? That crazed energy? That's the mood that Mendoza captures in his photographs. Ernie has striking facial expressions which look great on film. The photos remind me of the wild and crazy things my own cats used to do -- that's why I think this book is a GREAT gift for cat owners. The picture of Ernie attacking Tony's hand with his mouth spread wide -- as if he could actually eat his whole hand if he tried hard enough -- priceless. Also, FYI, there is text accompanying most of the photos.

A must for cat lovers and photography enthusiasts!
I had always meant to buy a copy of this book ever since I read its review on People magazine several years ago (I think it was around the time when Socks was still in the news and the magazine reviewed a bunch of cat-related books to commemorate the First Cat). Sadly, by that time the book was out of print (I tried calling a few stores and they hadn't even heard of the title!) and I'd just about given up. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I found Ernie's startled appearance on a shelf as I was browsing in an L.A. bookstore this past weekend! Needless to say, I grabbed the last copy, took it home, and was not disappointed! No, Ernie is not the cute kitty next door; rather, he's a seasoned hunter with New York smarts and attitude to boot (or at least that's what Mendoza's photography and accompanying text would have us believe!). If you're in the market for a wisecracking tuxedo cat who's firmly in touch with his wild side, get a copy of this book and be entertained! (Mendoza's brief account of his two-year relationship with Ernie makes for an interesting read also.)

Healthy Habits for Life: Your 6-Week Guide to Food and Fitne
This book is fun and easy to read. It is a week to week guide book on getting healthy. The assignments are realistic and attainable, so I was encouraged right off the bat! It's a refreshing realistic look at diet and fitness. I highly recommend it!

Healthy Habits for Life
What a great nutrition book. It covers everything. It's like having a session with your own personal dietician. The format is easy to follow, the layout is colorful and interesting and it inspires the reader to make sound nutritional changes in their diet and develop healthier habits in their life. I wish I'd read this book years ago.

A Great Fitness Resource
I found this book lives up to its title. It is an all around, useful aid to get off the yo-yo diet track, and onto a lifestyle change. We all know that is easier said than done. I am using the journals, and finding all their suggestions to be realistic. I love the idea of pleasurable eating as well as healthy eating. It is wonderful to have a "guidebook" written by professionals who really know their subject-and their audience.

My Family and I/Mi Familia Y Yo: Bilingual
Published in Hardcover by me+mi publishing (01 January, 2001)
Authors: Gladys Rosa-Mendoza, Carolina Cifuentes, and Jackie Snider

Good starter
My son enjoys this book often. It is a great complimenyt to the authors alphabet book too! My son is hispanic/caucasian and this is a book that he can read with either his dad, myself or any member of the entire extended family without any difficulty. Which is great since reading is one of his favorite activities.

My Family andI?Mi Familia Y Yo
This is another book that I enjoyed by this author. My children have asked me to continue to purchase this books and they read them all the time. I see the joy and excitement on their faces as they say different words in Spanish and actually know the meaning. I feel that it is important for the and myself to learn a second language, and books like these have been able to serve as a base for my entire family. It's easy to read and grasp, and a good reference to look at when necessary. Keep up the great work Gladys and I'll keep reading your books. Learning is a continuous process and now it's become really fun!

Great children's book
This is a book that any small child can love and the fact that it teaches as it entertains is a great tribute to the skill and the heart of the author. Sturdy construction, a size made for "little hands" and bright colors have made it a favorite of my kids. We know several Spanish-speaking families in our church--and this book will help as kids talk to kids, I think.

The Official Duke Nukem 3d Strategies & Secrets (Duke Nukem Games, No 3)
Published in Paperback by Sybex (June, 1996)
Author: Jonathan Mendoza
Average review score:

A very good written, and usefull guide.
This guide is very usefull for to Duke Nukem 3D Gamer(not Atomic Or the PAK version). The book had all the secrets to each level and episode; good for people who want to master it. However if your a begginer, it tells you the basic and simple parts of Duke, his ego, and his enimies. Gives you a Map guide of the level and path to beat it. Gives hints, tips, and demos of other games by 3D Realms. however, the book can be hard to understand a bit for younger or less educated people. Still, a great book for a great price. get this book if you want to know how to MASTER Duke Nukem 3D!

VERY well done guide
As strategy gaming host for bellaonline.com, I have to read through quite a number of pitiful walkthroughs. This one is a great exception! The book is extremely well laid out, with clear, easy to use maps, tips and techniques. The instructions are all dead on. But best of all, the book isn't written assuming you're 2 years old. It's written with a fantastic style, with humor and knowledge all mixed together. I was extremely impressed, and this has stayed on my shelves while other books were tossed out long ago!

Quality of Game Book
The Game Book for Duke Neukem 3D is the bomb! It has all the stuff you need to finish the game without missing blasting a thing! If you want the total experience of Duke's adventures, buy this guide!
